H to the K and back again

I just got back from Hong Kong, and my body clock is so messed up, I went to sleep at 7am and had breakfast at 5pm! The main agenda for going overseas was to find doctors to treat my RSI. After being poked, stabbed, cracked, pulled and 6 doctors later, needless to say I was in need of some serious Hong Kong shopping therapy.

I missed out on going to I.T the last time i was in HK, so I made sure i stopped by the flagship store in Causeway Bay this time.

I visited Tai O, which is like a fishermans’ village located on an island on the western side of Lantau Island in Hong Kong.

Fresh grilled squid, typical Tai O street food.

When I was wandering through the backstreets of the village, I came across this sign… is this a designated dog poo area?!

Ice cream truck by Stanley market.

One of the best things about Hong Kong is the food, I’m not sure what I like more, eating or shopping… probably eating om nom nom!
best hotpot I have ever had, hands down.

After hotpot I had some dessert at the Agnis B pop-up cafe.

I came across these super cute chubby hamster creatures, they were SO cute! they were aptly named milk tea, coffee, and lavender according to their colour. Anyone know what they’re called in english?

Oh hai there, Mr tortoise!

Hong Kong really puts Sydney to shame when it comes to Christmas spirit, they take Xmas decorations very seriously over there! every major shopping centre had some decadent installation. There was a Toy Story extravaganza outside Harbour City. There was actually a lot of Toy Story collaborations whilst I was there, most likely to celebrate the new Toy Story Land that recently opened in Disneyland.

There was a really adorably installation at Langham Place located at Mong Kok. It was themed Hello Kitty Back to the Ice Age. The first time I went was on a weekend and it was just so overcrowded with people I didn’t even bother trying to line up to take a photo. I went back on Monday and was able to get a few clean snaps of Hello Kitty enjoying a cocktail at the ice bar and playing ice hockey with a wooly mammoth.

This will probably be my last post for 2011, hope every one has a splendid holiday and don’t do anything that will put you on Santa’s naughty list- on second thoughts, make sure you do, that way you don’t have to leave any cookies and mike out on Christmas eve, you can have them all to yourself! om nom nom!

Cheap eats and China treats

During the 5 day Easter break, my family, Kamen and I went to China and Hong Kong for a few days for eating, shopping, visiting relatives and some more eating… I’ve never had so much yum Cha in my life! but it is far superior to the Yum Cha in Sydney.

mmm black sesame bun om nom nom!

I also had alot of yummy tea! the jasmine tea was delicious and so fragrant!

Seafood anyone?

One of the things i always have to do in China is go for a ride on the bike/carriage man, but this time a lot of them had installed motors underneath the carriage so it goes a lot faster, which was pretty fun anyway zooming past all the traffic and pedestrians down little alleys.

We spent our final day in Hong Kong for some serious shopping from morning till midnight, which needless to say we were exhausted by the end. Next morning we hopped on the plane and headed back to Sydney for the next day of work *cries* oh did I mention? I finally have an internship :D
