Witchery Kids S/S11 illustrations

This is quite an old project now, but since I haven’t updated my portfolio, so I thought I’d share some images of illustrations I created for the Witchery Kids S/S11 campaign whilst at eskimo design.

lilac

After having black and blonde hair for 3 years and putting different toners in my hair to cancel out the yellow, I finally decided to put lilac in my hair, but I wanted a grey washed out look so I mixed the dye with conditioner before applying it to my hair.

Black tips with lavender moons to match my hair.

Minty Fresh

mint/mint/
noun: An aromatic plant native to temperate regions of the Old World, several kinds of which are used as culinary herbs.
adjective: (of an object) In pristine condition; as new.

Aside from being a nice added condiment to your food, or a way to describe the condition of your new manicure, mint is also a very refreshing colour this season!

Tween Nails

oh hai guys, my hands are famous!
A couple of weeks ago, I did some nail art for the newly launched Witchery 8Fourteen range. I thought it was pretty funny seeing my own hands on the shop page! During my tween years I loved painting my nails and creating little designs on my fingers – not much has changed really, I still love doing it!

Happy V. Day

source:

You know, I like Love and Valentine’s Day and everything, but what I realllyy love is finding that perfect font that fulfills all your type fantasies! it takes you out to dinner and laughs at all your unfunny jokes, and when it perfectly pulls a design project together, you just KNOW you’ve found the one!
Hope you kids all had a special V. Day!

Tangerine Tango

Hello Color lovers!  it only feels appropriate to kick start the first post of 2012 by announcing Pantones Color of the year: Tangerine  Tango.

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it. Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

Expect to see this beaming colour on clothing racks this season, but if the shade is too citrusy for you, you can always brighten up your look with an orange lip or blush, and team it up with some tangy nail polish.

OUTAGE

My blog is temporarily a mess (as you can see) some idiots got into my account and messed everything around. My blog will be up and running back to its pretty self soon!

H to the K and back again

I just got back from Hong Kong, and my body clock is so messed up, I went to sleep at 7am and had breakfast at 5pm! The main agenda for going overseas was to find doctors to treat my RSI. After being poked, stabbed, cracked, pulled and 6 doctors later, needless to say I was in need of some serious Hong Kong shopping therapy.

I missed out on going to I.T the last time i was in HK, so I made sure i stopped by the flagship store in Causeway Bay this time.

I visited Tai O, which is like a fishermans’ village located on an island on the western side of Lantau Island in Hong Kong.

Fresh grilled squid, typical Tai O street food.

When I was wandering through the backstreets of the village, I came across this sign… is this a designated dog poo area?!

Ice cream truck by Stanley market.

One of the best things about Hong Kong is the food, I’m not sure what I like more, eating or shopping… probably eating om nom nom!
best hotpot I have ever had, hands down.

After hotpot I had some dessert at the Agnis B pop-up cafe.

I came across these super cute chubby hamster creatures, they were SO cute! they were aptly named milk tea, coffee, and lavender according to their colour. Anyone know what they’re called in english?

Oh hai there, Mr tortoise!

Hong Kong really puts Sydney to shame when it comes to Christmas spirit, they take Xmas decorations very seriously over there! every major shopping centre had some decadent installation. There was a Toy Story extravaganza outside Harbour City. There was actually a lot of Toy Story collaborations whilst I was there, most likely to celebrate the new Toy Story Land that recently opened in Disneyland.

There was a really adorably installation at Langham Place located at Mong Kok. It was themed Hello Kitty Back to the Ice Age. The first time I went was on a weekend and it was just so overcrowded with people I didn’t even bother trying to line up to take a photo. I went back on Monday and was able to get a few clean snaps of Hello Kitty enjoying a cocktail at the ice bar and playing ice hockey with a wooly mammoth.

This will probably be my last post for 2011, hope every one has a splendid holiday and don’t do anything that will put you on Santa’s naughty list- on second thoughts, make sure you do, that way you don’t have to leave any cookies and mike out on Christmas eve, you can have them all to yourself! om nom nom!

Illamasqua . Alex Box

Lately I’ve been quite fascinated with make-up in a theatrical sense. I’ve had these lookbooks by Illamasqua for a while, and i just love the themes and details they put into it, not just the art direction but the print details like gold foil stamping and die-cuts mixed with high gloss pages, really give these lookbooks a wonderful tangibleness.

The amazing make-up behind Illamasqua’s campaigns are of course done by Alex Box, who is just crazy talented. Box has also created looks for some of my favourite designers (Alexander McQueen and Gareth Pugh). Here are just some of my favourite creations by her:

The appeal of make-up to me has always been about ‘playing dress-up’ as opposed to glamour, and Illamasqua’s philosophy perfectly caters to my fascination of exploring my alter ego.  to put it in their own words,

llamasqua is the product of a heady mix of influences. Its roots stem from the dark and illicit 1920s club scene, and combine a rich heritage in the manufacture of make-up for film and theatre. It also takes inspiration from members of the ‘alternative scenes’ for whom self-expression is paramount. Alternative cultures have always dared to be dramatic. They have an emotional attachment to making up. It’s an expression of their darker side, a release for their alter ego.
Illamasqua is for the bolder person hiding inside all of us. It is an act and an attitude. A symbol of tolerance. A celebration of idiosyncrasies. A confident statement of self-ownership.

Alternative make-up sure has come a long way from the days when I could only buy black lipstick  from the 2 dollar store!

blue rebel

This week has been an a tough one for me. I said my goodbyes to eskimo as I made the decision to put my career on hold and seriously treat my RSI. Hopefully recovery won’t be too long and I can return to the igloo soon. As a parting gift, the eskies got me the Chanel Le Vernis – Blue Rebel, the darkest lacquer in the exclusive LES JEANS DE CHANEL collection, was developed in celebration of Fashion’s Night Out by Peter Philips, Creative Director of Chanel Makeup. It recalls the inky dye used to create dark-wash jeans — this is not a colour I would typically choose myself, but it looks better on your nails than it does in the bottle, and I’ve gotten so many compliments on the colour since I’ve been sporting it on my digits.

During my hiatus from eskimo, my recovery program involves not using a computer for 3 months! *dies* so to keep me occupied I’ve pulled out my pencils and started drawing again. Here’s a sneak peek of an illustration of Anja Konstantinova I’ve been working on:
